Welcome,
This is THE
LIZARDS Official Website!
Out of the
turmoil of the Sixties and the craziness of the Seventies, a small
gathering of friends formed a group called THE LIZARDS. Our mission...to
hike and explore the Sierras and beyond...
Over the years
the LIZARDS evolved and learned many valuable lessons in life,
especially while hiking. With over 30 years hiking experience,
and covering just about every corner of the Sierras, THE LIZARDS,
have a lot to share. From logging what seems like a bazillion
trail miles, you can imagine that we've become sort of quazi-experts
on trails in the Sierras, as well as what gear to bring (depending
on the Season), to bring or bring a tent, what backcountry foods
to bring, etc. --- and accordingly we have stories, pictures,
and experiences to share regarding our adventures - - As time
permits, we will share them with you here. However, if you have
any questions regarding a particular hike/trail, or whatever,
feel free to contact us.
BTW - - If
you wold like to join us on a hike, go to our contact
us page and drop us a line. To give you some idea of what
THE LIZARDS are all about...check out pictures on our Adventures
page, or read more about THE LIZARDS on our
About Us page.
Of course,
THE LIZARDS have other activities that they enjoy besides hiking
and getting lost in the woods, such as disc golf, poker, tennis,
fishing, surfing, and drinking mass quantities of liquor.
Like all official
organizations, we have our rules and punishments. For example,
one traditional punishment we maintain is to present a YOU IDIOT
award, usually given to someone in the group (after the hike)
who manages to pull off or do something really idiotic during
the hike. This could be anything from forgetting to pack thier
sleeping bag, to missing an important side trail we were suppose
to take - - Haven't we all done this?
Oh and one very important rule to keep in mind is that THE LIZARDS
leave their dead (or sick) along the trail...so don't get sick
on a hike!
