Who
Are The LIZARDS?
For the past thirty years the LIZARDS have tried to figure this
out!
Some
People have said that the LIZARDS are group of close friends—this
seems like a plausible idea, that is until you've actually been
on a hike with the LIZARDS! Others have suggested that the LIZARDS
are an extraterrestrial species who evolved from some lessor known
reptile lifeform. Hence, the need to return to mountains several
times a year... You be the judge!
What
Are The LIZARDS About?
This is somewhat open to interpretation, but essentially the LIZARDS
are a group of individuals that get together several times a year
(usually once a season) to hike, or ski the trials throughout
the Sierras and beyond. The LIZARDS also enjoy getting lost on
their hikes, hiking on a full moon, cross country skiing, fishing,
back country fresbee golf, and drinking tequila and/or rum in
a tent. The LIZARDS also get together on extra special occasions,
such as Poker Night, the Dogs of Tijuana Party, day hikes, and
the Summer Crab Beach Party.

Traditionally
the LIZARDS give out a special award on their hikes they call,
"The You Idiot Award." The You Idiot Award is given
to the individual who manages to do something to the dissatisfaction
of the other LIZARDS; examples can include leading the LIZARDS
off on the wrong trial, loosing something important, getting hurt,
or sick. The LIZARDS also enjoy calling each other "YOU IDIOT"
when appropriate (which is usually often).
Passing
on the LIZARD Traditions
A
number of LIZARDS now have kids, LIZARDS call their kids "JR
LIZARDS." Once or twice a year the LIZARDS take the JR LIZARDS
on a hike.
